The Joint Operations Command revealed, on Tuesday, the great support for the Border Guard Forces, while indicating that two measures were taken to prevent infiltration.
JOC spokesman Major General Tahsin Al-Khafaji told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the support provided to the border guard forces is very large, as they have obtained equipment that will enable them to control the borders and prevent the operations of infiltration, stating that "forces of the army and federal police are working with the Border Guard Forces to secure the Iraqi-Syrian border.
Al-Khafaji asserted that "many security gaps have been closed, as the border barrier has contributed to reduce infiltration, noting the arrest of many of those who have attempted to cross Iraqi territory during the past period.
It’s to be mentioned, that the Border Guard Command announced today, Tuesday, launching a three-pronged security operation on the border strip with Syria.
