The International Coalition announced that it has provided the Iraqi security forces with equipment worth more than $5 billion since 2014, while noting that its mission in terms of support after the withdrawal of US combat forces is decided by the Iraqi and US governments.
The spokesman for the international coalition, Colonel Wayne Morato, said in a statement to the Iraqi News channel, which was monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Friday, that "only in the last week, the international coalition equipped the Iraqi security forces with equipment worth 35 million dollars," noting that "this is part of From the Fund for financing, training and equipping the Iraqi security forces, which was supported by the American forces.
He added, "This support includes communications equipment and intelligence equipment, as well as all matters in all areas of the Iraqi security forces," noting that "the support will continue to support the Iraqi forces, and perhaps in the future and in light of the decision to withdraw combat forces, and it will be left to a decision by the Iraqi and American governments." .
On the 27th of this month, the spokesman for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, stated that Iraq's relationship with the international coalition will be based on three files.
Major General Rasoul told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "all that Iraq needs from the international coalition is for the new relationship to be based on partnership in the issue of fighting terrorism, and supporting the Iraqi armed forces with training, equipment and armament, in addition to the intelligence effort," noting that "Terrorism still poses a threat, and there are still areas in northeastern Syria where it has a large presence."
