Ministry of the Interior - MOI confirmed that the use of technologies helped the security forces detecting mysterious crimes and controlling terrorist networks, while noting that using it in security institutions reduces crime rates.

"The world is witnessing a great development in the field of security technologies, as police departments and institutions have become largely dependent on the use of technologies to combat crime, and they have actually been able to reduce crime rates or the escalation rates in their rates globally,” said the ministry's spokesman, Major General Khalid Al-Mhanna, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Al-Mhanna noted that “in Iraq, when using technologies, there were many benefits that the security forces gained, whether by revealing mysterious crimes and tracking suspects, or through cameras, communication networks, the Internet and social networking sites,"

"The principle of crime prevention is very important, and the presence of cameras reduces crime rates, because when a person presents or intends to commit a crime, after seeing certain means that can reveal the personality, sometimes retreats from this matter, so this matter is very important,"

He explained that during the government effort, public cameras are used in the streets or citizens' cameras, whether in shops or in homes, because "the security forces sometimes use the cameras of local citizens, for the purpose of completing the process of investigations that they are conducting. No country is stable security without citizen cooperation, which is the basic principle in the security equation,"
