The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, confirmed on Tuesday that the hospital tragedy in Dhi Qar was the result of persistent corruption and mismanagement.
Salih tweeted on his official Twitter account: The disaster of Al-Hussein Hospital (peace be upon him) in Dhi Qar, and before that, Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad, is the product of persistent corruption and mismanagement that underestimates the lives of Iraqis and prevents the reform of institutions’ functioning.
Salih stressed that "the serious investigation and severe accountability for the negligent is the consolation of our martyrs and their families," noting that the strict review of the of institutions functioning and the protection of citizens is needed urgently .
on Monday evening, Dhi Qar Health Directorate announced the death of more than 36 people and the injury of 5 others in the fire incident of Imam Hussein Teaching Hospital (peace be upon him), treating COVID-19 patients.
Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al- Al-Kadhimi, held an emergency meeting to find out the repercussions of the fire at Imam Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah.

Earlier on Monday evening, a fire broke out inside the isolation center for people infected with the Corona virus at Imam Hussein Hospital (peace be upon him) in Dhi Qar province, resulting the death and injury of dozens of people.
