Basra Operations Command announced on Saturday the arrest of 12 wanted men and the confiscation of weapons and various ammunitions in the province.
The Command `stated in a statement to Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the security forces are continuing their operations to inspect and pursuit wanted persons, and the confiscation of weapons and unlicensed ammunition within Basra Operations Sector.
The 12 who arrested are wanted by the judiciary, three of them, according to Article 406 of the Criminal Penal Code, the statement said.
The official source also affirmed that the intelligence information enabled the security forces to reach important and vital targets in the field of drug and weapon trade, as well as criminals whom the security forces chased for a long time.
