Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani and the US ambassador in Baghdad Matthew Tueller discussed the internal and external reality of water resources in Iraq and the challenges it faces.
The US ambassador expressed his country's readiness to support Iraq in the field of dam and irrigation projects.
Al-Hamdani met water resources in Iraq at internal and external levels and the challenges it faces Iraq in light of the decline in water imports, climate changes, declining rains, as the tireless work of the ministry and its cadres is ongoing to face these challenges as well as to secure water for drinking, agriculture and all other sectors, according to a statement by the media office of the Minister of Water Resources, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Tueller expressed his happiness for the success of the first Baghdad International Conference held during the month of March, as it represented an opportunity to meet decision-makers from various countries, United Nations organizations, international organizations and specialists in water affairs to exchange visions and ideas as well as finding effective solutions for it.
He also expressed the readiness of the US government to provide support in the field of developing expertise of dams and irrigation projects, especially Mosul Dam and all other projects of the ministry.
"The minister praised this initiative as it represents an opportunity for the continuation of joint cooperation between the two sides," the statement included.
