Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed the details of its meeting with the French delegation headed by the Chair of the National Defense Committee and the French parliamentary forces, Francois Dumas.
"The meeting with the French delegation, which was held yesterday, focused on two issues, the first being the existence and exit of the US-Led International Coalition troops, while the second related to the issue of exchanging experiences,” a member of the committee, Muhammad Hussein Abu Dharr, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "The French delegation expressed Paris' readiness to cooperate with the Iraqi government in the field of training, developing the army's combat capabilities and air defenses, supporting youth, restoring and maintaining relations,”
Abu Dharr pointed out that "the Security and Defense Committee explained to the French delegation that Iraq possesses forces and capabilities as it has combat capabilities that were proven in reality during the ISIS war and others, and therefore it does not need the presence of ground forces or combat forces on its territory,"
"Iraq needs expertise, exchange of information, and development of the Iraqi army's capabilities in terms of training and logistical terms, in addition to benefit and development with regard to the Iraqi air force and air defenses," he added.
