The Razaza Lake is a water body that is divided between the governorates of Karbala and Anbar, and draws its water from the Euphrates River, and the lake is considered one of the vital tourist places, but it suffers from neglect due to the water cut off from it. The Iraqi News Agency (INA) visited the lake and learned about its reality and the extent of the citizens’ desire to be aware of the beauty of its picturesque nature, and documented the views of citizens and fishermen about the reality of this lake, and what are the requirements for its advancement.
A tourist, Ali Ahmed, explained that “the rottenness of the water and the accumulation of dirt and waste in the lake made swimming in it a difficult task,” calling on “the federal and local governments to supply the lake with water and provide municipal services to it to attract tourists from various governorates of Iraq.”
He added that "the care and attention given to the lake reflects positively on the economic and tourism situation of the country, and provides job opportunities for tens, and possibly hundreds of the unemployed."
For his part, one of the fishermen, Karrar Al-Ameri, affirmed that "the fishing profession is currently suspended because there are no fish in the lake, and that their work is limited to the entertainment and tourism aspect by transporting citizens in fishing boats and taking them on tourist tours inside the lake."
