PIC discloses the percentages of project completion that referred to the private sector

    The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee announced today, Friday, the rates of completion of projects that were referred to the private sector.

    A member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, Nada Shaker, stated in a special statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the head of the Investment Authority confirmed that there are many projects referred to the private sector, and obtained the privileges of leave, lands and customs exemption, but without there being any achievement "noting that" most of the projects referred to this sector to the sector range from zero to 35% only, although the government gives all facilities to the private sector, including land, customs exemption, and the facilitation of routine transactions and others. " 

    She added, "All countries of the world are making great achievements in the private sector due to the presence of a good government negotiator and observer, and that there are huge projects assigned to the private sector and this sector has not achieved any results because implementation is almost non-existent."
    Shaker added, "It seems that the projects are being taken by influential people in the government or political parties, and they get the privileges without being implemented," noting that "if the private sector performed its work properly, job opportunities would increase and the level of unemployment would decrease, and the shares of this sector would have contributed." By building roads, schools, hospitals, housing units and factories. "

    She indicated that "the housing complexes that are completed by the private sector are few, and their prices are not commensurate with the price of the land that the private sector took for free," stressing the need for "there to be a strong government negotiator and observer to follow up on the achievements of the projects implemented by the private sector."
