Al-Kadhimi receives a written message from Borisov

    Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed, today, Thursday, that Iraq is planning a policy of openness to all international partners, and to enhance opportunities for attracting international investments.
    The Media Office of the Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Al-Kadhimi received the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov and his accompanying delegation. .
    He added that "the delegation conveyed to the Prime Minister a written message from the President of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mr. Mikhail Mishustin, regarding strengthening bilateral cooperation ties between Iraq and Russia and opening wider horizons for bilateral partnership."
    He continued, "Al-Kadhimi welcomed the Russian delegation, stressing the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries because of their historical dimension and in a way that serves the interest of the two friendly peoples."
    And that "the meeting witnessed the discussion of the international and regional situations, especially the situation in Syria, and the efforts of Iraq that are in the interest of calm and creating sustainable development that consolidates peace and stability."
    He pointed out that "the two sides discussed joint cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and extremism and the efforts made in this regard, and supporting Iraq in its battle to eliminate the remnants of terrorism."
    He added that "the support that the Russian Federation can provide to support the electoral process in Iraq and the process of providing international observers was discussed, and it was agreed that the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation would hold its meetings soon."
