Walter Mundell, former US Vice President Jimmy Carter, died at the age of 93, according to Axios and the family spokesman .
Mundell is a politician, diplomat and lawyer who served as the forty-second vice president of the United States under President Jimmy Carter, and before that he was a Senator from Minnesota .
Mundell was a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party in the US presidential election in 1984, but lost to Ronald Reagan, who won a landslide victory.
