The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, discussed today, Thursday, with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, and ways of cooperation for the success of the early elections.
The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Al-Kaabi received in his office the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Plasschaert, in the presence of Representative Enas Al-Magsousi."
He added, "The meeting discussed ways of close cooperation between Iraq, the United Nations and the electoral team in the mission in the file of the success of early parliamentary elections to ensure fair and solid elections in accordance with international standards and meet the aspiration of the Iraqi street, as well as focusing on the draft Federal Supreme Court bill and amending the draft law of the Human Rights Commission ".
Al-Kaabi affirmed that the House of Representatives will, during the coming days, proceed to vote on the remaining articles of the Federal Supreme Court draft law to end the main obstacle to holding early elections in the country, especially since the constitution limits the right to ratify the election results in the Federal Court.
