The US ambassador to Baghdad, Matthew Tueller, confirmed today, Thursday, that he will continue to perform his normal duties, with the support of a core team of diplomats and advisors.
Tueller said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "many of my Iraqi friends contacted me to inquire about press reports that the United States Embassy will reduce the number of staff in Baghdad."
He added, "I was able to reassure them that I would continue to perform my normal duties at the embassy, and would do so with the support of a core team of American diplomats and US advisors to the Iraqi army."
