The Cabinet reveals the details of the school building project by Chinese companies

 The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers revealed today, Friday, the details of the school construction project by Chinese companies.

 The spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Supreme Committee for School Building decided, in its first session, held on 11/22/2020, to send invitations to Chinese companies wishing to build schools, nominated by the Chinese embassy in Baghdad."  Pointing out that “the committee approved school building designs, according to the minutes of the design selection meeting, which includes choosing three designs (the lowest prices) as basic models for building schools (12 classes, 18 classes, and 24 classes).”

 He added that "the contract included furnishing schools and the Ministry of Planning to include the project among investment projects for the purpose of starting implementation."

 The Council of Ministers had decided to form the Supreme Committee for School Building, housed in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

 The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), yesterday, Thursday, that “based on the requirements of the public interest, and based on the importance of education in Iraq and its direct and effective impact on building the future generation, providing job opportunities and contributing to the development of workers' capabilities.  And in view of the acute shortage in the numbers of school buildings throughout Iraq, in addition to the delay of school construction projects during the past years and the inability of the followed plans to keep pace with the growth in the number of students in the medium and long term, the Council of Ministers decided to form the Supreme Committee for School Building, based in the General Secretariat of the Council  Ministers ".
