Iraqi President, BarhamSalih, received on Sunday, the Bahraini ambassador to Iraq, Salah al-Maliki, following his return from Manama to resume work in Baghdad.
Salih's media office said in a statement, which INA received a copy of, that the President stressed on the deep rooted ties between the two brotherly countries, pointing to the necessity of developing the mechanism of joint work to face challenges and developments, and strengthening pillars of security and peace on both regional and international fields.
The President thanked his brother's, the King of Bahrain, stance in supporting Iraq and his positive stance in handling the attack of the Bahraini embassy, emphasizing on the commitment of the Iraqi state to protect the diplomatic missions and embassies HQs in Iraq.
For his part, the Bahraini ambassador conveyed greetings of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to Iraq's President wishing him prosperity, confirming his country's support for Iraq and its unity and sovereignty and its keenness to enhance bilateral relations and joint cooperation.
