FM Discusses Preparations for the Upcoming Arab Summit to be Held in Baghdad

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed, on Sunday, preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit to be held in Baghdad this year.

    The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein chaired today, Sunday, the first regular meeting of the current year of the Council of Ministers in the presence of undersecretaries and heads of departments in the ministry," adding that "the meeting witnessed an extensive discussion of the topics included on the agenda, where a number of important issues related to the work of the ministry were discussed and appropriate decisions were taken regarding them."

    It continued that "the meeting discussed steps to automate the work of the ministry to improve the efficiency of administrative performance and simplify procedures, in addition to preparing for the upcoming Arab Summit to be held in Baghdad this year, in a way that enhances Iraq's position and its effective role in the international arena. The law and work system of the ministry were also reviewed to ensure the development of institutional performance in line with current changes and challenges."

    MOFA pointed out that "the meeting also discussed the most prominent obstacles facing the ministry's departments and diplomatic missions abroad, with discussions on the necessary solutions and treatments to overcome them, in a way that contributes to strengthening the course of diplomatic work and supporting the ministry's performance in various fields."
