Arab Parliament began on Saturday, its general session, chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, with the participation of representatives of the Iraqi Parliament, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, to discuss developments in the various political, security, social, legal and human rights files in the Arab region.
In this regard, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, in a speech during the session, to take immediate and urgent action to condemn and stop the violations committed by the Zionist entity by exploiting the conditions that Syria is going through, occupying more Syrian lands, destroying the capabilities of the Syrian army and infrastructure, and deliberately sabotaging the chances of Syria restoring its security, stability and territorial integrity.
Al-Yamahi said: “We are following with great interest the recent developments witnessed by the sisterly Republic of Syria, and we renew our call to all Syrian parties to preserve the state institutions, uphold the supreme interest of the country, and to give priority to wisdom and the language of dialogue in dealing with the requirements of this critical stage in Syria’s history.”
He pointed out that "the Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament held a meeting two days ago, in the presence of a representative of UNRWA, the representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, and the representative of the Palestine sector at the Arab League, to discuss the measures taken recently by the Arab Parliament to support our Palestinian people, and to coordinate on further steps that it can take, within the framework of its role in the field of parliamentary diplomacy."
