Baghdad-INA
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed his admiration for the construction efforts in Iraq and the vibrancy of the capital, Baghdad, following his recent visit.
In a statement to reporters following his departure from Baghdad, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Blinken remarked, “I told the prime minister how striking it was flying in from the airport just to see all of the construction, the vibrancy of the city, the cars moving around”.
He noted that “I know as well really important work has been done to make sure that Iraqis have the services they need, and increasingly the opportunities that they want to build better lives. So it’s been very impressive to see these changes, and I think it just underscores the importance of Iraq continuing to have the space to do that. That’s what its people deserve.”
Last evening, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two discussed bilateral relations, ways to enhance mutual cooperation, the situation in the region, and developments in Syria. They also explored the regional and international efforts required to bolster security in Syria and ensure stability across the region.
