Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the prime minister, emphasized on Wednesday the significance of supporting the Syrian people and the necessity of stepping up international efforts to bring about an immediate end to the aggression against Gaza.
"The Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met in the Jordanian capital Amman, King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where they discussed the current developments in the region, and events on the Syrian arena," according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
According to the statement, "the meeting emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral coordination to confront regional and global challenges, to continue efforts to prevent the Middle East conflict from spreading, and the risk of sliding into chaos
According to the statement, the prime minister emphasized "the importance of standing by the brotherly Syrian people in these difficult circumstances, and the need to respect the free will of all Syrians, preserve the unity of the Syrian territory and the sovereignty of the country and its ethnic, religious, and social diversity, and support the choices of the Syrian people towards building a stable and prosperous Syria that ensures the participation of all its components in managing the country's affairs and the continuation of consultation with all parties, and the exchange of visions to present effective initiatives that serve common interests and enhance stability in the region."
The statement emphasized that the two sides were "working to exert efforts to ensure the consolidation of the ceasefire in Lebanon and ensure its stability, warning of the danger of the continuation of hostilities by Zionist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, doubling relief and medical assistance to reduce the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, and intensifying international efforts to reach an immediate cessation of aggression on Gaza."
According to the statement, the meeting covered topics such as how to improve the two countries' bilateral ties and how to keep pursuing successful collaborations across a range of industries for the benefit of both brotherly peoples.
