The Popular Mobilization Forces, in cooperation with the University of Nahrain, held a central annual festival today, Monday, to commemorate the martyrdom of the leaders of victory, martyrs Qasim Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their companions, entitled Martyrdom and Sovereignty.

The commander of the 8th Brigade in the Popular Mobilization Forces, Kazem al-Jaberi, said in a speech during the festival, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We are celebrating these days the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of the leaders of victory, Hajj Qasim Soleimani and Hajj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in an incident that is considered the worst in modern history; because it was committed by a party with which we have a security treaty, one of the conditions of which is respect for Iraq's sovereignty."

Al-Jaberi added, "The two happy martyrs had many commonalities, the most important of which was that they represented the global Islamic leadership that was not limited in its struggle and fight against injustice by borders or geography, and they carried the concerns of the Islamic nation and its aspirations to establish a state of justice and right.
These two characters were distinguished by their asceticism and integrity in this world and its adornments, and their focus on jihadist work and armed struggle to support the oppressed in the world." He continued, "The mixing of the blood of the two martyrs was a reason for the unity of the popular ranks in Iraq and the cohesion of the two neighboring peoples, Iran and Iraq," noting that "it is important to preserve the unity and cohesion of the people with all their components and nationalities and to rally around the wise authority."
