Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed today, Sunday, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not looking for escalation in the region and is ready for peace, while appreciating the role of Iraq, its government, people and religious authority for standing with Gaza and Lebanon.
Araghchi said in a press conference, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "My visit to Baghdad is to consult on developments in the region, and we are consulting with friends to stop the Zionist aggression on Lebanon and Gaza," noting that "the region is facing serious challenges."
He added, "There is a possibility of escalation in the region caused by the Zionist entity, and the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon must be stopped," stressing that "the Islamic Republic is not looking for escalation in the region and we are ready for peace."
Araghchi continued: "We thank Iraq, its government, people and religious authority for standing with Gaza and Lebanon, and also for not allowing the exploitation of Iraqi airspace to attack us."
He concluded: "The international community must pay attention to the displaced in Lebanon and Gaza."
