Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani discussed, today, Sunday, with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, the developments in the situation in the region, stressing the need for major powers to assume their responsibilities in preventing attacks and stopping the genocide of dangerous dimensions against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, where they discussed areas of cooperation between Iraq and the European Union countries, reviewed developments in the situation in the region, and the continued Zionist aggression against both Lebanon and Gaza."
According to the statement, al-Sudani expressed his "appreciation for the positions of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, regarding the continuation of the aggression and its attempts to expand the conflict in the Middle East region."
The Prime Minister stressed "the need for major powers to shoulder their responsibilities in preventing attacks and stopping the genocide of dangerous dimensions that the Zionist entity continues to commit against our Palestinian people, and its brutal attacks have extended to brotherly Lebanon."
For his part, Ambassador Seiler praised "Iraq's political positions on the international arena and its efforts to work towards calming the situation and preventing the expansion of the conflict, which was clear to European countries."
