Acting parliament Speaker, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, agreed on Tuesday, with Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari to form a committee to address the problems of the Iraqi community in Tehran.
The Media Office of the First Deputy Speaker of the parliament stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that " Acting parliament Speaker, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi today was briefed on the situation of the Iraqi community residing in Iran on the sidelines of his official visit to Tehran."
"Al-Mandalawi listened to the problems facing the community, the most prominent of which were (forcibly displaced persons, specifically the problems of granting them citizenship, compensating the families of martyrs, the right to vote in elections, the speedy enactment of a draft law on the validity of the documents bearing the aliases of displaced persons and migrants, and the assistance of white carte owners by granting them a passport," the statement added.
The statement continued, "Al-Mandalawi made a phone call to the Iraqi Minister of Interior to find out the needs of the community inside their home country, and to solve them as quickly as possible," noting that "it was agreed to form a committee with full powers to go to Iran and solve all the problems they face."
Al-Mandalawi stressed that he "will personally and permanently follow up on the work of the committee to provide all the support it needs in order to resolve the problems completely."
