First Deputy Speaker of Parliament , Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, stressed on Monday, the keenness to implement bilateral agreements between Iraq and Iran and activate parliamentary committees.
The media office of the First Vice President stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Acting Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and the parliamentary delegation accompanying him, held a meeting with the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Muhammad Mokhber to discuss a number of important and common files."
The statement added, "The parliamentary delegation discussed ways to develop relations between the two countries at various levels, and continued to exchange technical and administrative visits to open broader horizons for cooperation in the fields of energy, water, agriculture, education, and religious tourism."
Al-Mandalawi stressed, “Parliament is following with great care the activation of the implementation of bilateral agreements at the political, parliamentary, as well as economic and security levels, in addition to revitalizing the work of the parliamentary and governmental committees that were formed in previous periods,” calling at the same time for “strengthening Iraq’s water share, and the need to take a stand a unified Arab and Islamic world against the Zionist genocidal crimes against Gaza."
For his part, Mokhbar praised “the extent of the rapprochement between the two neighboring countries,” stressing that “Iraq has a wise policy and has a great ability to achieve balance in the region."
He appreciated "Mandalawi's efforts and the call he made as acting president of the Arab Parliamentary Union to hold an emergency session of Arab parliaments on Palestine."
