    President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid stressed on Sunday,  the need for coordination and joint action between the authorities in order to support the judiciary and consolidate the rule of law.

    The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "President Rashid received today Sunday, at the Baghdad Palace, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Minister of Justice, Khaled Shawani, and the head of the Judicial Supervision Authority, Laith Jabr Hamza."

    The President of the Republic stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of making efforts to resolve the issues of detainees, and working on electronic connectivity to speed up cases related to convicts and detainees, and the importance of applying rulings fairly and impartially while scrutinizing the files of detainees."

    Rashid pointed to "the importance of developing a road map to clarify the mechanism of work in prisons and detention centers, and the need for coordination and joint action between the authorities in order to support the judiciary and consolidate the rule of law and the principles of human rights."

    In turn, the Minister of Justice stressed "exerting more efforts to resolve the cases of detainees," while the Minister of Interior stressed "the importance of establishing clinics to place drug users instead of prisons, and the possibility of benefiting from abandoned army camps."

    The head of the Judicial Supervisory Authority touched on "the necessity of applying the automation system and linking files between the Ministries of Justice and Interior and the Supreme Judicial Council," noting that "a drug abuser who surrenders himself can deposit him in voluntary clinics."

      The media office noted that "during the meeting, they discussed the importance of coordination between the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministries of Interior and Justice, initiating the process of automation and linking between institutions, in addition to resolving the problem of overcrowding in prisons."
