The President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received Today, Sunday, an official invitation from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud to visit his country.
The Presidency of the Republic said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received today Sunday, at the Baghdad Palace, Somali Ambassador to Iraq, Liban Sheikh Mahmoud," noting that "Ambassador Mahmoud conveyed an official invitation to the President from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud to visit Somalia, as well as his greetings and thanks for Iraq's always positive stances with brotherly Somalia, and the Somali President's wishes for the reopening of the Iraqi embassy in Mogadishu."
The statement added that "The depth of brotherly relations and joint cooperation and his country's desire to strengthen them in various fields were emphasized," noting that "the president entrusted the Somali ambassador with his greetings to President Hassan Sheikh Al-Mahmoud, and affirmed his appreciation for the relations between the two brotherly countries and the need to develop them, especially in the agricultural, commercial and wealth fields animals for the benefit of the Somali and Iraqi peoples."
