Turkey: The arrest of 4 suspected in the killing of an Iraqi family

The Turkish province of Mardin announced the arrest of 4 people suspected of involvement in the killing of an Iraqi family.

The governorate stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the accident that occurred on January 19, 2023 in the Artuklu district of Mardin Governorate, resulted in the killing of 4 Iraqi citizens and the injury of another Iraqi citizen.".

The governorate added, "As a result of the investigations, and based on the instructions of the Republican Public Prosecutor's Office in Mardin, 4 suspected citizens were arrested," noting that "the investigation into the incident is still ongoing and thorough.".

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Thursday, expressed its condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the Iraqi citizens who were killed in Turkey this day, after they were shot at a wheel that was carrying them, calling on the Turkish side to make efforts to conduct an urgent investigation, and in cooperation with the competent Iraqi authorities, to reveal the circumstances of this attack and explain its causes.
