Salih discusses with the US Ambassador easing tensions in the region

    The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, discussed, today, Wednesday, with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, easing tensions in the region through dialogue, confronting economic fluctuations and adapting to climate changes, which have become an existential crisis.

    A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the American ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski."
     
    The statement added, "During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the depth of the relationship that unites Iraq and the United States and its development in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples."

    The statement continued, "During the meeting, the two sides also discussed cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, easing tensions in the region through dialogue, confronting economic fluctuations, protecting the environment and adapting to climate changes, which have become an existential crisis, as Iraq and the region are considered one of the countries most affected by the climate crisis."

    For her part, Ambassador Romanowski affirmed, "The United States of America looks forward to strengthen cooperation with Iraq, and supporting a secure and stable Iraq with its pivotal role in the region."
