The Foreign Minister and his French counterpart stress the need to work to reduce tension in the region

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna means to advance bilateral relations in various fields, while they stressed the need to work to achieve calm and reduce tension in the region.

    A Foreign Ministry statement  stated that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a phone call from French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, and the Minister congratulated the Minister on the occasion of her assumption of her position as French Foreign Minister, wishing her success in her work."

    The statement added, "The two sides discussed upgrading bilateral relations in various fields, and means to enhance consultation and coordination between Baghdad and Paris."

    According to the statement, the minister expressed his thanks to the French government for its supportive stances for Iraq in various fields.

     

    For her part, the French Foreign Minister, according to the statement, offered her sincere condolences to the government and people of Iraq for the martyrdom of a number of citizens as a result of the bombing of a tourist village in Dohuk Governorate, stressing France's commitment to fully support Iraq's sovereignty in order to ensure its security and stability.

    In conclusion, the Minister invited the Minister to visit Baghdad to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
