Iraqi Family Physicians Society affirms that Iraq needs 10,000 family Physicians within 10 years

    Iraqi Family Physicians Society confirmed on Monday, that it has a program for early diagnosing of cancerous diseases and tumors, while submitting a proposal to increase family physicians in Iraq.
     
    Iraqi Family Physicians Society was founded in 2012, and the number of the Physicians registered in the Society is 2,300 from various specialties, and they are consultants and practitioners, and this is few number according to the needs, the head of the Society, Muntadhar Saad, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    He added, "According to the reports of the World Health Organization, Iraq needs 10,000 family physicians within 10 years," proposing "urging the pace and support from the government to increase the number of family physicians by opening the door for study and encouraging general practitioners to enter family medicine   field to enhance our institutions and serve the community.”
     
     
    He added, "The Family Physicians Society communicates with the regional environment, such as the Family Medicine Organization at the regional and global levels, and there are many proposals and ambitions to activate it in Iraq," noting that "there are many obstacles and challenges, including the need to build an appropriate environment on a real basis for doing the work of the Doctors, both on public and private levels”.

    He stressed, "We have a program for early diagnose of diseases and tumors, and this reveals great facts before reaching the end of a specific disease," explaining that "the World Health Organization and in all its conferences and education emphasizes the need to take care of society through the family doctor.”
