The president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, stressed on Wednesday, the need to secure the ports and the border strip, pointing out that the file of border crossings has witnessed a remarkable change under the current administration.
The supreme judicial council (SJC) said in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency (INA) that “The president of SJC, Judge Faiq Zidan met the Chairman of Border Ports Commission, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, at the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council”.
Zidan affirmed "The necessity of securing the ports and the border strip and tighten control over all incoming goods in the country from counterfeiting or tampering with public money and ensure their adequate scrutiny," stressing "continue to make efforts to arrest violators and impose the maximum penalties against them under the law."
He also lauded the remarkable efforts of the Border Ports Authority cadres in controlling smuggling operations, manipulating public money, protecting the local product and preventing the passage of any materials unfit for human consumption."
For his part, ,Al-Waeli emphasized the main operations carried out by BPC cadres and provided a complete summary of the electronic check-in mechanism adopted at all border points, through which many counterfeits were seized and smuggling and waste of public money was prevented.
