Second Deputy Speaker of the parliament Shakwan Abdullah announced Wednesday the formation of a committee to audit the CVs of applicants for the post of president, while setting the deadline for the end of the nomination for the post.
"The presidency of parliament is committed to constitutional timings on the selection of the president in accordance with Article 54 of the Constitution," Abdullah told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"There are provisions for the candidacy of the president and according to articles 2 and 3, and on Thursday the nomination will end," he said.
"It is not a condition that all those who submit CVs are accepted, but that the constitution has set special specifications for the president," he said.
"The Accountability and Justice Commission will have an opinion on the issue and the applicant should not be sentenced to a felony and there are clear specifications in the constitution," he said.
"The position of president of the republic will be between the PUK and the KDP and there is no candidate of the two components: Sunnis or Shiites because it is an entitlement to the Kurds," he said.
