Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced on Monday, resolving the position of President of the Republic, indicating that KDP has presented its candidates for the position.
The MP of KDP Mahdi Kareem told The Iraqi News Agency (INA),"Both parties (KDP and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)) agree to nominate two candidates for the position, confirming that both candidates were submitted by PUK".
Kareem also added that “The issue had been resolved by the Kurdish blocs with the other blocs, like Takaddom (Progress Party) or The Sadrist Movement, affirming that Kurd’s candidate for the president will be pass swiftly, just like passing the candidate of the Parliament Speaker and its deputies”.
Earlier, Iraqi parliament elected on its fifth legislative round on Sunday, Mohammad Al-Halbousi as the Speaker of the Parliament , Hakim al-Zamili as the first deputy Speaker and Shakhwan Abdullah , the second deputy Speaker.
Meanwhile, The Sadrist Movement has submitted the names and the signatures of the parliamentary majority.
