The United Nations announced, today, Saturday, that it will launch preliminary consultations between civilians and military personnel in Sudan, with the aim of resolving the crisis in the country.
The United Nations said in a statement that its representative in Sudan, Volker Perthes, "will officially launch the initial consultations for a political process between the Sudanese parties, which the United Nations will facilitate with the aim of reaching an agreement to end the current political crisis.".
The statement did not specify the date of the start of these political consultations, but stated that "all stakeholders, civilians and military, including armed movements, political parties, civil society, women's groups and resistance committees, will be invited.".
