The leader of the Sadrist movement Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, presented 12 alternative proposals for unhealthy, illegal and out of social gatherings during the celebration of the New Year.
Al-Sadr suggested that the alternative be as the following:
1- Giving to the poor.
2- Visiting and socializing with family, friends, relatives and clan.
3- Visiting patients, especially those with malignant and permanent diseases.
4- Distribute gifts to whomever you like.
5- Holding banquets or pioneering restaurants, each according to his economic status.
6- Holding a celebration as a symposium or conference, provided that health conditions are met.
7- Present a congratulatory card to whom you wish.
8- Holding sports or cultural competitions.
9- Travel or tourism, aborad or inside the country, as possible.
10- Decorating shops, homes, and streets, as well as using safe firecrackers without throwing firearms.
11- Raising the national anthem or other national anthems without disturbing others.
12- Holding a photo exhibition, poetry seminars, or alike.
