Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi on Wednesday called for legal action in an incident in which demonstrators were injured in Dhi Qar.
"Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mustafa al-Kadhimi followed up with great interest the incident of injuring three protesters today, in the center of Nasiriyah city in Dhi Qar province," said a statement from the security media cell received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Al-Kadhimi directed the necessary legal measures to hold accountable those who caused this incident and to open an urgent investigation by the security forces, and to work to treat the injured immediately," the statement added, stressing his "previous directives not to use force or shoot demonstrators demanding their legitimate rights."
