A spokesman for the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, said security conditions are stable in the Green Zone.

"The security situation is stable in the Green Zone," Rasool told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Sunday, stressing that security forces were taking measures to maintain order.

Earlier, the security media cell announced that Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mustafa al-Kadhimi had been subjected to a failed assassination attempt by a booby-trapped drone.

"A failed assassination attempt on the prime minister and commander-in-chief of the armed forces was carried out by a booby-trapped drone that tried to target his place of residence in Baghdad's Green Zone," the cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that "The president was unharmed and is in good health.”

"The security forces are taking the necessary measures in connection with this failed attempt," the cell said.
