the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called for the speedy announcement of the election results and the consideration of legal appeals.
Al-Sadr said in a tweet, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "What should not be denied: is the efforts of the High Commission responsible on elections and the great professionalism and effort it has shown in election process.
He added, "At the same time, we support it to accelerate the announcement of the results and to consider legal appeals to keep all opportunities away from those who are lurking in the political process and attempts to falsify or disrupt the process through some illegal actions. Something that is not in accordance with Sharia and law, but rather the preservation of civil peace and in accordance with democratic aspirations."
