The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, identified the best way to prevent the emergence of new strains of the emerging coronavirus.
The best way to accomplish this, he said, is to slow transmission from infected to others.
Tedros added: "New strains are expected and will continue to appear, this is what viruses do, they evolve, but we can prevent the emergence of strains by preventing Covid-19 from transmitting."
He pointed out that the organization is concerned about the fast-spreading of the strain.
"It's simply, more infection means more strains, and less infection means fewer strains," he said.
