Pope Francis of the Vatican, confirmed that prayers for Iraq will continue.
He said in a tweet followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Let's continue our prayers for Iraq and the Middle-East."
"In Iraq, despite the turmoil of destruction and weapons, palm trees, the symbol of the homeland, continued to grow and bear fruit," he included in his tweet.
Pope Francis added that “this is also the case for brotherhood: it does not make noise, but it does bear fruit and make us grow."
