Al-Halbousi makes high rank meetings with Kuwaiti officials

Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Muhammad Al-Halbousi received Kuwaiti high rank officials on Monday, and made several meetings.

Al-Halbousi met the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the cooperation between the two brotherly countries, strengthening bilateral relations, joint economic relations, activating joint governmental and parliamentary committees between the two countries, and stressing the need to activate reconstruction projects in addition to the outcomes of the international donors’ conference.

He also met the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

During the meeting, Al-Halbousi and the accompanying delegation congratulated Sheikh Al-Sabah on his re-appointment as Prime Minister and assigned him to nominate members of the new cabinet, wishing him success.

Both discussed enhancing the prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Kuwait in accordance with mutual interests in all fields, the importance of activating the joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti ministerial committee and strengthening its work, as well as forming a joint parliamentary committee to activate cooperation and accelerate government procedures in the field of investment, trade and free zones.

Al-Halbousi also met Kuwaiti Crown Prince Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, strengthening means of cooperation in all fields and in the interest of the two brotherly peoples, and the importance of activating trade and revitalizing the private sector between the two countries.

For his part, the Crown Prince expressed Kuwait's position that “Iraq is a safe country for its people to enjoy stability and prosperity”

He also offered his deep condolences to the Iraqi people for the victims of the last two bombings in Baghdad, calling on the international community “to stand with Iraq in fighting terrorism and extremist ideology"

Then, Al-Halbousi and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister held a meeting and confirmed the redoubling of joint efforts.

The two discussed bilateral relations between both brotherly countries, and emphasized on redoubling joint efforts by increasing political, economic and security cooperation in a way that serves the interest of the two brotherly peoples.

They also discussed regional and international developments that have taken place in the region, as well as coordinating situation between the two in international forums on important issues.

Al-Halbousi then met the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim.

He and the accompanying delegation congratulated Marzouq Al-Ghanim on his re-election as the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly and the members of the Council.

Talks took place during which cooperation relations between Iraq and Kuwait were presented and ways to enhance and develop them in all fields, especially those related to the parliamentary side, as it was emphasized that the coordination of positions in all international forums should continue.
