National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji met the commander of NATO mission in Iraq, Lieutenant-General Pierre Olsen on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Al-Araji stressed the need for cooperation and joint coordination in the fields of security, information exchange and training.
Al-Araji and Olsen, discussed the cooperation in the strategic areas of defense, security, training and information exchange, according to Al-Araji's media office statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Developing the capabilities of the security forces is very important and the Iraqi government is determined to hand over the security file inside cities to the Ministry of Interior," added Al-Araji.
Olsen stressed that "the mission's presence in Iraq came at the request of the Iraqi government, to help the available capabilities," noting that "the mission is working to benefit from the experiences of Iraqis,"
