Members of the Security Council welcomed the Iraq and Kuwait ongoing cooperation in searching for missing Kuwaitis and citizens of other countries.
The Security Council indicated that the Iraqi government handed over the remains of those believed to be Kuwaiti citizens on September 16th, 2020 and August 8th, 2019.
The members praised the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in terms of providing logistical support in this regard, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Tripartite Mechanism for their role in implementing the resolution 2017 (2013) to resolve outstanding issues regarding missing Kuwaitis and citizens of other countries.
They welcomed Iraqi government's ongoing commitment to bring back all remaining Kuwaiti properties and encouraged the Iraqi government to keep on searching for lost Kuwaiti properties, and in particular to boost the search for the missing Kuwaiti national archives.
